Het was een drukke dag voor de korte stoppen zonder contract. Maar liefst drie van de beschikbare korte stoppen tekenden een contract op dezelfde dag. Andrelton Simmons tekent bij de Twins, Marcus Semien tekent bij de Toronto Blue Jays en Freddy Galvis vertrekt naar Baltimore om te gaan spelen voor de Orioles.

De kogel is door de kerk! Koninkrijk speler Andrelton Simmons heeft zijn keuze gemaakt en hij tekent een eenjarig contract bij de Minnesota Twins. Na de Atlanta Braves en de Anaheim Angels is dit de derde Major League club waar Simmons onder contract komt te staan. De viervoudige winnaar van de gouden handschoen (beste verdedigende speler op zijn positie) hoopt dat zijn defensieve kwaliteiten zullen bijdragen aan play-off succes voor de Twins
