Het indrukwekkende seizoen van Marcell Ozuna heeft hem een lucratief vierjarig contract opgeleverd bij de Atlante Braves. Ozuna kwam vorig seizoen ook al uit voor de Braves en liet toen indrukwekkende offensieve statistieken noteren. Beide partijen hadden een duidelijke voorkeur om met elkaar door te gaan en uiteindelijk is het financiële plaatje ook rond gekomen. Buitenaardse Ozuna

Marcell Ozuna tekent een vierjarig contract bij de Braves ten waarde van $65 miljoen. Het contract bevat een optie voor een vijfde jaar, waarmee de waarde van het contract kan oplopen tot $80 miljoen. Defensief gezien heeft Ozuna weinig tot geen toegevoegde waarde, maar zijn succes wordt bepaald door zijn offensieve productie. Ozuna heeft sinds zijn debuut in 2013 in zes van de acht seizoen een WRC+ boven de 100.  In 2020 speelde Ozuna op een buitenaards niveau en liet hij een 179 WRC+ noteren. Hij was met name dodelijk tegen fastballs. Zijn .391 BABIP is niet vol te houden, maar zelfs een kleine regressie zou nog resulteren in een prima productie.

Het behouden van Ozuna betekend dat de kern van de Braves in stand blijft. Met Freddie Freeman, Robert Acuna JR, Marcel Ozuna en koninkrijk speler Ozzie Albies hebben de Braves een gevaarlijke slagorde. De Braves wonnen de afgelopen twee jaar al hun divisie en dit jaar zijn zij wederom de favoriet van de National League East en de front office zal hopen dat zij genoeg hebben gedaan om de ambitieuze New York Mets achter zich te houden.
